The Miami end of the lane

Based in Oakland Park. Loading all over Greater Miami.

Our address is up I-95 in Oakland Park. There’s no FSVL storefront on Brickell, and we won’t pretend otherwise. The trucks come to you: Miami-Dade condo towers, Gables houses, Beach walk-ups, Doral garages.

Miami is where the interstate leg literally begins. Northbound, it’s one on-ramp between your building and every corridor we run, and it’s why long-distance out of Miami prices differently from local work. The linehaul is the cost, and the linehaul is measured in miles and pounds, not hours.

Buildings, not just boxes

Loading day in Brickell is not loading day in the Gables.

4load-day patterns across Greater Miami, from tower dock to driveway

Miami’s housing stock splits a moving plan in two. Managed towers run on paperwork: certificates of insurance, freight-elevator reservations, dock windows. Single-family streets run on geometry, meaning where the truck can legally sit and how far the crew carries from there. Tell us which one you’re in and the plan follows.

Brickell, Downtown & Edgewater

Tower country runs on paperwork. Most managed buildings here want a certificate of insurance naming the association, plus a reserved freight elevator, and those calendars fill fastest around the first of the month. Reserve the elevator before you book anything else.

Miami Beach & the islands

Streets east of Alton Road weren't drawn for a full-size trailer. When the big truck can't reach your door, a smaller shuttle truck bridges the gap. Across the market that runs $100 to $300, and you should hear that now, not on move day.

Coral Gables & Coconut Grove

Single-family streets under a famous tree canopy. The constraint is curb space and branch clearance, not building rules. Loading here is usually the simple case, and the price questions are cubic feet and destination, nothing else.

Wynwood, Little Havana & the walk-ups

Older low-rise stock: third-floor walk-ups, narrow stairs, no elevator to reserve. Market bands price stairs at $50 to $150 per flight. Flag every flight on the video survey and it's in the written number from the start, not a surprise at the curb.

Northbound & westbound

Where Miami actually moves to.

The corridors out of Miami are stable enough to plan around: the Northeast, meaning New York, New Jersey and Boston, plus Atlanta, Washington D.C., Chicago, Texas, and Southern California. That list comes from market migration data, not from our dispatch log, and we publish the price bands the same way, with the source stated.

The I-95 lane is the home run: regular departures on this corridor, both directions: families north in early summer, snowbirds south from October.

Southbound

Arriving in Miami, timed to the season.

Southbound is seasonal in a way almost no other U.S. metro is. From October through April, roughly a million seasonal residents flow into South Florida in the snowbird migration, peaking January into February. If your delivery lands in that stretch, start the survey early. That’s real demand and real lead time, not a sales line.

Plenty of that traffic is permanent: retirees trading a Northeast winter for Florida’s no-state-income-tax math. One note from the migration data, though: the New-York-to-Miami wave has cooled, and Tampa and Orlando are absorbing more of Florida’s inbound migration than they used to. Miami is still a major landing spot. It’s just no longer the automatic one.

Everything in the buildings section above applies in reverse on delivery day:

  • the receiving tower wants its certificate of insurance and elevator window too
  • a Beach address may need the shuttle truck on the way in
  • if your closing date slips, storage in transit at our Fort Lauderdale-area warehouse bridges the gap: how moving & storage works

The calendar

Hurricane season is a planning input, not a footnote.

Jun 1 to Nov 30 · hurricane season
Oct to Apr · snowbird season
May to Sep · national peak

Miami’s moving calendar has three overlapping seasons. The national peak runs May through September. Most U.S. moves happen in that window, and prices across the market run 20% to 30% higher. Snowbird season pushes the opposite direction, October through April. Over both sits Atlantic hurricane season, June 1 to November 30, strongest from late August through October.

Miami questions

Straight answers for the Miami end.

Do you do local moves inside Miami?

No. We don't run hourly local jobs at all: no Brickell-to-Grove afternoons, no in-building shuffles. A long-haul carrier's cost structure makes small local work cost more than it should, so we stay out of it. If your move crosses state lines in either direction, that's us.

How much does a long-distance move out of Miami cost?

As a market band: about $4,200 to $7,800 for a 2 to 3-bedroom household going 1,000 miles or more. Interstate pricing runs on weight times distance, roughly $0.50 to $1.30 per pound depending on the lane. Those are industry figures, not our tariff. The calculator gives a planning range for your route and home size in about 60 seconds; the exact number is set after a video survey, because federal rules require a survey, or your signed waiver, before a binding price on a move like this.

My building is a high-rise. What has to happen before moving day?

Three things, usually: a certificate of insurance naming your association, a reserved freight elevator, and in some towers a loading-dock window. Reserve the elevator first; those calendars fill before truck calendars do, especially around the first of the month. Send us your building's requirements when you book and the paperwork gets handled ahead of the date, not on it.

What happens if a hurricane forms during my moving week?

The move shifts; it doesn't vanish. Interstate pickups reschedule around storm watches and warnings, since nobody sensible loads a household in a tropical-storm warning, and I-95 reopens fast once a system clears. Build two or three flexible days into a June-to-November move and a storm is a delay, not a crisis.

Are you actually located in Miami?

No. Our base is in Oakland Park, up I-95 on the Broward side, and we'd rather say that plainly than rent a mailbox on Brickell Avenue. Greater Miami is the core of our service area: crews load in Miami-Dade, the trucks stage from Broward. You can check us yourself: USDOT 4022357 on FMCSA's SAFER system.
